Digger Derricks by Versalift are the most versatile in the business
Digger Derricks by Versalift are designed to be the highest quality, safest and most reliable utility vehicles that do the demanding work of digging, setting, rigging and removing utility poles. The set of available options on Versalift Digger Derrick trucks ensure that our customers get exactly the tool that their organizations and people need to get the job done right.
Digger Derrick - Highlights
Versalift offers a line of eight Digger Derricks, each of which can be customized and built to the specifications of our customers. Our Digger Derricks have maximum sheave heights in several ranges, and either boom tip-mounted or turret-mounted winches. Standard winches come with one hundred feet of braided winch line, and can be altered to include a greater length of line.
Versalift Digger Derricks are built for incredible stability, with redundant safety features and a set of hydraulic systems to operate the booms, digger and winch, each working independently of the others. With a range of lift capacities, all of which are more than 20,000 pounds, the TMD 2000 series also has a range of sheave heights, from 42 feet to 50 feet, and an equally broad range of load capacity at 10’ radius.
Digger Derricks | Features
With two separate pressure gauges on the lower controls: one for the digger/winch and the other for the boom, the Versalift TMD 2000 series of Digger Derricks presents technicians with the tools they need to safely monitor their work. An engine kill switch comes standard on the lower controls.
Digger Drive – The digger drive is the hydraulic motor and gear set that drives the auger on the Digger Derricks. There are several options available on the digger drive itself, depending on the required torque output. Single speed digger drives are available as are two-speed drives. One popular feature is our two-speed, shift-on-the-fly drive, which is also available. The maximum digger drive output is 14,000 ft-lb.
Transferrable Pole Guides – Pole guides function as stabilizing claws on the end of the boom, which work as guides to set poles into freshly dug holes. Pole Guides can be pinned to the upper boom tip or the intermediate boom, and their placement is determined by the needs of the customer. The Pole guides have hydraulic tilt and operator controls. additionally, holding valves are included to lock both cylinders in position.
The vast majority of the Digger Derricks we build for our customers include both digger drive and pole guides. Digger Derricks can be ordered either without a digger drive, or without pole guides.
Digger Derricks are frequently utilized by the electric utility, power distribution, power transmission and telecommunications industries for the purpose of construction of new networks of overhead cable.
Individual Digger Derricks - Capacity Charts
At Versalift, we determine the load capacity of each Digger Derrick by setting the boom angle at 80 degrees, and retracting the intermediate and upper booms, so that the outside edge of the sheave is 10 feet off the centerline of the rotation bearing of the boom. By testing for load capacity on each Digger Derrick we build, we are able to assure the highest quality, and deliver an individual capacity chart for each product we build for our customers.
WORLD’S FIRST ARTICULATED TELESCOPIC AERIAL DEVICE - 1980
A lot has changed since we built our first aerial lift in 1965. But one thing that has not is our approach. We build every Versalift to last, it is not unusual to see a 30 year old Versalift Bucket Truck being used daily!
UNIQUE VERSALIFT FEATURES
A culture of innovation and quality at Versalift powers our passion to be the best.
- Non-Lub lift bearings - Non-lub bearings require little to no maintenance and are designed to last the life of the truck.
- No Mandatory Tear-Down - Versalift bucket trucks are engineered to the highest standard of quality so that they last safely and reliably.
- Torque Striping - An extra step that we take to ensure the quality of our work. All critical bolts are torque seal marked, allowing the lift operator to be more efficient, and to receive visual indication when a bolt is loose.
- Dual Pin Retention - Every critical pin on the bucket truck and lift assembly has a redundant pin-set, which is then torque striped. Safety is our priority, and our redundant systems prove that.
As the industry quality leader in bucket trucks, Versalift also manufacturers aerial devices, digger derricks and other specialty equipment for power generation, transmission and distribution, investor-owned utility, telecommunication, light & sign, and tree care industries. Working with co-ops, municipalities, government agencies and corporations through its global network of facilities and family of distributors, the company manufactures, sells and services bucket trucks in North America, South America, and Europe and employs nearly 700 associates worldwide.
