Aerial Lift Safety – Our Primary Focus
Aerial lifts are an increasingly common sight around the world as economies continue to develop, and the demand for electric power and access to telecommunication service surges. Many important American industries depend on aerial lifts to safely guide technicians into the air. This group of industries includes sign, light and traffic maintenance, telecommunications service, power transmission and electric power distribution line maintenance. Additionally, Versalift serves several other industries that perform dangerous, difficult, high-reach tasks as part of their daily operations. At Versalift, our primary focus is to deliver to our customers, no matter their industry, the safest and most reliable vehicle-mounted aerial lifts in the world.
Aerial Lift Safety – The Danger of High Reach Work
Aerial lifts should only be operated by trained and certified technicians because they can be very dangerous if they are used incorrectly. OSHA, which sets and enforces safety standards in the United States, communicates on this very issue. OSHA states that the two major hazards to people using any truck-mounted aerial lift are injury from falling and injury from exposure to electrical current. Injuries caused by falling are most commonly the result of inadequate training. In a dangerous line of work, remembering to take every precaution and follow every protocol is very important. Additional hazards that cause injury to aerial lift technicians include, but are not limited to, tip-overs, objects falling from the platform, and entanglements. OSHA Fact Sheet
Versalift offers innovative aerial lift safety training courses
Aerial lift safety is at the core of the value that Versalift brings to its customers. Beyond its safe and reliable equipment, Versalift offers interactive online aerial lift training courses to support the safe operation of their equipment. Versalift engineers and designers are always working to improve upon the features that allow our aerial lifts to perform complex, industry specific tasks. Interactive aerial lift training is an important innovation because it prepares operators and technicians with a more memorable and thorough training experience. Innovations in aerial lift safety are so important because they serve to protect the well-being of linemen and other technicians. Major American industries rely on technicians to manage and maintain both power and information infrastructure, and the continued safety of these people is crucial to their success. Whether it’s an improvement on an existing safety feature, or an innovation in safe operator training, the continual improvement of operator safety is a primary engineering goal at Versalift.
Aerial Lift Safety Features
Standard aerial lift safety features provided by every manufacturer of aerial lifts include outriggers, which are outfitted for greater stability. At Versalift, our Radial Outriggers add the additional benefit of stabilizing units even when they are being used on uneven terrain. Harness and lanyard systems prevent injury from falling and from bounce-outs, and these are required equipment for all truck-mounted aerial lifts in the United States. Perhaps the most important, and a focus of Versalift innovation, is insulation and dielectric isolation. These custom designed systems provide linemen greater protection from exposure to electric shock at the platform.
Versalift’s brand new aerial lift isolation system, TruGuard™2.0, provides an additional layer of protection to linemen in the power transmission and distribution industries.
Versalift Aerial lifts – A Tradition of Excellence
As a result of aerial lift safety-focused engineering advancements, Versalift continues to create opportunities for fleets to be safer and more efficient. Creating meaningful improvements is a tradition for the company. For example, by inventing and introducing the Articulated telescopic Aerial Lift in 1980, Versalift allowed lineman vastly improved access to their elevated workplaces. Today, by utilizing best in class manufacturing and first time quality focused production, we can ensure that our customers’ fleets spend more time on the road safely working and out of the shop. Established in 1965, Versalift has always been at the cutting edge of technology in aerial lift manufacturing. The newest aerial lift safety feature, TruGuard™2.0, a a patented truly isolated upper control system, extends this tradition.
