Versalift Digger Derricks – powerful utility equipment for construction and maintenance of utility and telecommunications infrastructure.
Versalift Digger Derricks are powerful, safe and extremely durable. Their primary function, digging holes for utility and telecommunications poles, is a tough job. They are versatile equipment, however, and can do a lot more than just dig. Equipped with transferrable pole guides and a jib & winch assembly, a Versalift digger derrick doesn’t just dig the hole. It also supports the process of setting the utility pole.
Digger Derricks are very unique equipment. Versalift currently offers a family of TMD digger derrick units for sale. The TMD 4060-T is the largest and most powerful Versalift digger derrick to date. Versalift introduced the TMD 4060-T at the 2017 ICUEE show in Louisville, KY. Why buy a Versalift digger derrick?
Our digger derrick units prove their quality in the details of their design and construction. For example, on the digger derrick boom assembly, the lower and intermediate booms are made of steel, while the upper boom is made of non-conductive, high-strength fiberglass. The fiberglass construction of the upper boom is certified for up to 46 kV, which exceeds ANSI A10.31 dielectric rating requirements. Two double-acting hydraulic cylinders lift the boom itself while driving the hydraulic extension system. Versalift’s TMD series digger derricks feature hydraulic rotation, using a worm and spur gear, which acts on a shear ball rotation bearing. The gearbox features a load sensor that measures side loads applied to the boom. This equipment is a completely hydraulic system,
Versalift digger derricks deliver fully hydraulic solutions.
- Digger derricks by Versalift feature an open center tandem system, which provides the digger and winch circuit with 40 gallons per minute, and 15 gallons per minute for boom functions.
- The digger/winch circuit operates at 2,300 psi and the boom circuit operates at 2,600 psi. Versalift digger derricks have a hydraulic winch as well.
- Utilizing a worm gearbox, hydraulic motor, holding valve, and drum, the winch — with a 15,000 lb maximum capacity — provides an average line speed of 35 feet per minute at a 40 gallon per minute flow.
- Overload protection is also purely hydraulic. The system senses the boom lift cylinder pressure and side loads at the rotation gearbox. It disables operation of major components when an overload condition is detected.
- Versalift digger derricks feature continuous and unrestricted rotation, both clockwise and counterclockwise.
Versalift digger derricks – Additional Features
There are several additional features on the Versalift line of digger derrick utility vehicles. These features include high-strength, hard chrome plated steel pins with fiberglass reinforced teflon non-lube bearings on the main pivot and cylinder joints, and a 52” pedestal. The steel fabrication of this pedestal incorporates a 1.5” thick top plate, machined flat to support the rotation bearing. Additionally, sight gauges at the lower controls provide a real time look at how the equipment is performing. The digger/winch pressure gauge senses and reports the pressure being generated while using the digger and winch. Meanwhile, the boom pressure gauge senses and reports the pressure being generated while using the boom control valve.
Versalift delivers a complete set of high-reach aerial equipment for utility and telecommunications industries.
